kt88 e 6550 nei pushpull differenze

Salve a Tutti.. ho qualche ampli e/o finale.. a stato solido.. ed un pp di kt88/6550 (longhin silver wave), quando e' arrivato.. mi sono messo a testare quad di kt88, psvane , full music, JJ, poi per caso ultimamente mi e' capitato un quad di 6550 tungsol..
da non credere.. certo la kt88 e' piu' potente sembra ha un po' piu' di tutto.. pero' le 6550 hanno una coerenza ed una musicalita' disarmante.. sembrano nate per il push pull, le ho messe sotto due settimane fa.. per testarle.. non sono piu' riuscito a toglierle.. chi ha ampli in pp che accettano entrambe ci pensino prima di cambiare.. oltretutto le kt88 sono sensibilmente piu' costose.. ora sono in asta su ebay per prendere delle golden dragon... nuove/nos anni 90 provenienza russa.. che non dovrebbero essere niente male.. ne vedremo delle belle

I just wanted to say that based upon the multitude of tests that I have performed on our beloved BEWITCH 6550 amplifier - using both 6550 and KT88 tubes - both can be made to perform superbly.

But this requires different operating points.

That is to say that if you insert one type - or the other - and get a better result, great! But it does not mean that this tube type is the better tube.  It just means that the operating points in the circuit suit that tube type better than the other.

In our BEWITCH 6550, I have discovered that even changing the rectifier tubes to different styles can have a big impact on the sound. Once again, different tube operating points deliver different results.

In reality, there are hundreds of different combinations to try, so if you have new tubes and don't like the sound - and are able to get into a bit of SAFE DIY - you can probably tune the circuit to suit the new tubes.

Just my 10-cents worth.

China's Ultra-High-End Hi-Fi!

As for my own hi-fi system, I am very much a DIY guy, so mostly our gear includes hi-fi gems from yesteryear, rather than the latest leading-edge technology. This is because i like to work on - and improve - all of the gear that we enjoy.

The exceptions would be our DAC - which is the wonderful CHORD QUTEST- and our phono cartridges.

That said, I am exploring after-market power supplies to improve our QUTEST... I guess I just can't help myself!
