Review: Premiata Forneria Marconi, better known in English speaking countries as P.F.M. , were arguably the finest Italian Progressive rock band of the 1970 s and certainly one of the most well known. A successful act in their home land, they came to international attention when they signed to EMERSON, LAKE and PALMER s label MANTICORE in 1973, recording the album Photos Of Ghosts the same year.
With English lyrics, some penned by ELP and King Crimson lyricist Pete Sinfield (who also produced the album), this edition of PFM s debut album for Manticore has been re-mastered from the analogue tapes and includes previously unreleased six bonus tracks of early mixes from the album sessions, a lavishly illustrated booklet, new essay and fully restored artwork.

Their 1976 album for the label, CHOCOLATE KINGS featured new vocalist Bernado Lanzetti and is arguably one of their finest works. This new edition of the album has been newly remastered and includes an additional CD of previously unreleased live material recorded at Nottingham University on the bands 1976 UK tour, along with a lavishly illustrated booklet, new essay and fully restored artwork.

Over the next four years they released four studio albums and a live recording for the label, and it is from these albums that this 2CD anthology is drawn. In addition, four previously unreleased live recordings from the MANTICORE vaults also grace this collection, along with the CD debut of a rare B-side to a UK single.
