gold contact point relay array
Aggiornamento di Larry Ho:
I normally don't do updates, but this time I just can't help.
I know Geek Force voted to add the mu-metal shielding for their pristine clocks and make the noise even lower, but there's always been other option to accomplish the same thing: gold orsilver contact point relay arrays for the headphone output gain switching, which is just too good to ignore. By using these arrays, we can use software menu settings to control the output gain for headphones; from sensitive IEM's to super-big cans— all in one.
With gold contact point relay arrays, you literally lose almost none of the original signal. And because there aren't any mechanical jumpers that need to get involved, no transistor noise is added to the circuit. A lot of $10,000USD+ hard-core, high-end pre-amps use this kind of mechanism because they're elegant, sound beautiful and are theoretically perfect. The only small issue we have is they cost quite a bit of money. Fortunately, during the design process of Geek Pulse, I kept that little possibility that one day maybe we could use this relay array. So I still leave the empty component space on PCB there.
I did another listening test of Geek Pulse today. Later, when I drove home (happily enjoy another beautiful piece from Rachmaninoff), I saw a young man walking down the street with his headphone over the ears. I don’t know what he listened to, but I can see he walks in his music. At that moment, I realize although I’m a business owner (just like others, I would like to see a pretty financial report), there is something more important than the bottom line --- I don’t want to leave any regrets of this Geek Pulse design. With your help, this Geek Pulse DAC raised from an entry level audiophile DAC and jumped ahead to become an incredible desktop DAC that could compete the similar products that cost 3 or 5 times more.
Now you could guess my next big decision: I decide to add this gold contacts relay array for every Geek Pulse. FREE! Not a perk, no need to survey, and totally free.
Think this as an enlightenment that I got from that moment. And I want to say thank you again to give us this chance to make our dream come true.
That’s all.
Cheers and now I need to go back to work,
Larry

Hey there!
It's been a long time coming, but we're FINALLY ready to give you your link to the high resolution music files you chose when you backed our campaign.
As you probably remember, we worked with nine time GRAMMY winning recording engineer, Michael Bishop to record a local school vocal ensemble called The John Adams Academy Advanced Vocal Ensemble in native DSD 128. This group of students range from 11 to 17 years old, and have been singing as a group for only one year. During the 2013-2014 school year, they competed at the Golden Empire Council's choral festival, and won unanimous superior ratings.
We sincerely hope you enjoy this recording, and we hope to continue this tradition of recording excellent student music groups in full DSD 128.

Here is the final list of OpAmp we picked for "Upgrade perks".
Analog Output Stage (Bias into Class A)
* AD827 in Geek Pulse and Geek Pulse S
* LME49990 in Geek Pulse X
Current to Voltage Conversion
* OPA1612
Also, we decide to upgrade the amp of DC Servo too....
LM4562, it is.
Enjoy!

Aggiornamento
Ecco l'ultimo aggiornamento di Gavin Fish:
Hi everyone!
Larry and I had a LOOOOONG meeting today with our R&D and production teams regarding Geek Pulse, Geek LPS/4 and Geek Blue. There is some exciting news that's come out of this meeting that I want to share with you. Ready? Here goes...
EVERY Geek Pulse /X /S will now have an upgraded silver contact relay array on the headphone gain circuit instead of a manual switch!
EVERY Geek Pulse /X /S will have a low-noise OLED display instead of an LED display!
EVERY Geek Pulse /X /S will include a minimum phase digital filter! I can't believe Larry agreed to do this (actually, it was his idea), but there you go
EVERY Geek Pulse /X /S now includes four extra audiophile-grade ELNA RFS capacitors!
EVERY Geek Pulse X now includes an extra S/PDIF input!
EVERY Geek Pulse /S now includes an extra AES/EBU input!
EVERY Geek Pulse with a femto clock upgrade now includes a super-quiet power supply.
One more thing: We keep a very up-to-date production roadmap on our website. If ever you want to know where we are, head on over to that page.
Take care,
Gavin

Re: Geek Pulse - dac DSD + ampli cuffia a 225 euro!
Aggiornamento:
Update 8/29/2014: The first batch of Geek Pulse boards have arrived at our office from the assembly house. Half of them are standard Geek Pulses and the others are Geek Pulse /I, Geek Pulse /F and Geek Pulse /I /F. Larry and his crew are measuring them to ensure the assembly house put everything together correctly. So far, it looks good.
Boards for Geek Pulse X, Geek Pulse S, and their /I /F variants are at the assembly house now. We expect those boards to be shipped to us from Reno in 8 business days.
Now on to the bad news: Two major components that were spec’d for Geek Pulse have been discontinued by their manufacturers: the DC power supply (not a huge deal, we’ve just found a suitable replacement) and the OLED screen. Yesterday we got the replacement screen and tested it— it’s working just fine.
As of today, the delivery of the OLED screen form the manufacturer is now the only major factor in the delay of delivering you your units. Today we finally received a delivery schedule from the manufacturer. They’ll ship the first 100 units on September 28th. Then they’ll ship 400 units on October 31st, then 600 on November 4th, then 700 on November 10th.
We’re very sorry, but for this reason, we have to inform you that deliveries of Geek Pulse must be delayed. We now think we can begin shipments the second week of October.

Rapporto prezzo/prestazioni incredibile.

Larry Ho:
See two nice Femto clocks there? Four Elna caps with RIFA.
WIMA on the other end.
MELF Ultra Low noise resistors, you could see there too.
...
White line are for Mu Metal shielding alignment.
This is the Femto + Active component upgrade version.
Geek Pulse X and S... Our highest grade is coming in by the end of next week.
It took me and our PCB layout engineer more than 250+ hours on the X/S board. Really not easy. But we did it.
...
ESS DAC with sophisticated power supply in the middle.
12V input and -12V power section on the upper left side.
Also with 4 audio input sections there... ;-) Complete ground isolation for each input.
Also, silver contact point relay array (white one) are in headphone section.
...
Once I finish the test. We will enter the production phase right away... So for now, we are pretty much 95% on track for the delivery schedule in updates.
Design has been freeze, next step will be production. And amazingly, with some more upgrades/buy more that still going on, we will need to make more than 2000+ Geek Pulse DAC to fulfill our orders.
Our production team is willing to take this challenge. See how fast we could make it all.
But don't worry, we won't let everybody wait until we finish the production. We will start delivery while we are still in the middle of production. Kind of challenge, but we will do our best.
Thanks for Geek Force to give us the chance to design and deliver this amazing product.
Larry
....
Here is the overall flow, I won't comment in public, but I could share here.
Step 1) LH Labs finish Gerber/BOM/ODB files
Step 2) PCBF house to fab the best PC board
Step 3) Bare boards goes to first e-Test facility, and strict impedance control for high speed transmission lines.
(I know, I am picky. But I request every boards need to pass that)
Step 4) Send to LH Labs for sampling micro scope inspection
Step 5) Send the PCB to PCBA (Assembly) factory... Huge oven control
Step 6) Load all the 0402 ~ 1210 size components and active components then start soldering
Step 7) Another three step testing procedures after soldering. [Allow me to skip details]
Step Pack into ESD bag and ESD box and send back to LH Labs
Step 9) LH Labs perform DC Test first and start burn-in
Step 10) Run the board through Audio Precision to make sure the performance
Step 11) We will do the spot listening test to the board here too.
Step 12) Assemble into the Chassis in LH Labs [a lot of details steps here]
Step 12+N) Final QC for the product.
Step 25??) Put these into shipping packages and send for 3rd party fulfillment house for shipping out.
.....
Step most important) You open it and start playing music
Then it is done. Easy.... Right?
Larry
...
Will post a nice Audio Precision Testing Report for Geek Pulse if on Monday.
Faceplate will be done next week too. ;-)

Re: Geek Pulse - dac DSD + ampli cuffia a 225 euro!

You’ve Received a Campaign Update!
Hello franz159,
Here’s an update for you from the ‘Geek Pulse: A Digital Audio Awesomifier for Your Desktop’ team:
1 new Announcement:
First Batch of Geek Pulse OLED's Have Arrived!
Back on August 29th, I told you there was an issue getting OLED's for Geek Pulse and that our supplier would ship the first 100 pieces on Spetember 28th. Well, they arrived today. 100 glorious, low-noise OLED's. So what's next?
This is Rich. He loves it when I take photos of him.
Rich is super-busy getting the parts kits (including those elusive OLED's!) together to ship out to our assembly contractor. The kits will ship out tomorrow and will arrive in Reno, NV on Wednesday. Then our vendor has the job of going through all the parts they receive, then setting up the pick-and-place machines. They're rushing as quickly as they can to get the first batch done so we can package them up and ship them your way.
It feels so good right now to be so close to shipping you your Geek Pulse DAC's!
Speriamo in bene....
